Perfectly Flawed

“Ring the bells that still can ring, forget your perfect offering. There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in” — Leonard Cohen

Acceptance begin with a smile

Flawed objects have some kind of imperfection — a dent or a blemish. No one’s perfect, so everyone is flawed in some way, but when this word describes a person it often means “weak in character.

I see being Flawed as a strength.

If you make a mistake, you learn from it. If you never make a mistake, you’re never the wiser. These so-called perfect leaders we have now have never made a mistake. How can they have learned what’s right and wrong, how could they have learned anything about themselves? About what they feel comfortable doing, about what they feel is beyond the scope of their character? The more mistake you have made, the more you have learned

“The Tenth Apple”

A hunter once lost his way deep inside the jungle while chasing a deer.
He used all his navigation skills but could not find any way out of the jungle nor could he find any food to eat for 8 days at a stretch.
He was HUNGRY, famished, disappointed and had lost all his hope.

And that is exactly when an apple tree caught his sight. It was laden with fresh ripe apples. He simply couldn’t believe his luck. He collected a dozen apples and started eating.

As he ate the 1st apple, his joy knew no bounds and he just couldn’t stop feeling grateful and blessed. He thanked life. He THANKED GOD.

But he was less grateful while having the 2nd apple and even lesser grateful when he ate the 3rd apple. He simply couldn’t enjoy the 10th apple. It tasted BLAND.

Of course, the 10th apple was as sweet as the first one. There was nothing wrong with the tenth apple. Yet it failed to give as much pleasure as the first one because the hunter who is now sitting under the apple tree has taken it for granted.

We also take the gift of life for another day granted.
If you get bored on a day, it is not because the day is dull and boring but your expectations has fallen short of things you’ve taken for granted.

Never let the ‘10th APPLE EFFECT’ ruin your day. Enjoy the GIFT of life as a BLESSING of a new day.

21 days : Together we can

HEY INDIA, LET’S TAKE THE 21 DAY LOCKDOWN REALLY SERIOUSLY. Because it’s probably our only chance to survive the Covid-19 outbreak without mass casualties.⁣

Worse, young people and kids can be carrying the virus but show no symptoms. That puts the lives of our parents, grandparents and anyone with underlying health conditions in severe danger. ⁣

I know the idea of staying confined for 21 days sucks. But we are privileged to have access to basic essentials, internet, social media, Skype, whatsapp, ton of online resources to learn new things and movies to binge-watch all day long

Staying home and following all official instructions seriously is the least we can do to show our respect to doctors, nurses, medical staff and people offering essential services – who are literally risking their lives to protect us. Spread the word, put your foot down, do what you have to do to ensure people around you follow the lockdown too. ⁣

Really hope the national / state governments announce financial aid / essential supplies for daily wage and informal sector workers asap. Also a little bit of humour in these dark times, because mental health is important too.

Stay home, stay safe

THE WORLD IS IN YOUR HAND, BE A HERO

Our lives are currently being turned upside down: closed schools, home office and a statutory restriction on public life. That’s a good thing. This is the only way to prevent a rapid spread of the virus. Please limit your social contacts in public and private life as far as possible. Stay at home. Even if the weather is currently inviting to spend the hours outside, remember the weakest and oldest in our society.

IT’S NOT ABOUT YOUR OWN RISK! We now have to stick together and not think selfishly to prevent the worst. For us, our families, the economy, the healthcare system and the rest of the world

In time everything will fall into place. Be patient

“The Wilderness”

There will times when standing alone feels too hard, too scary, and we’ll doubt our ability to make our way through the uncertainty.

We are all travelers in the wilderness of this world

Someone, somewhere, will say, “Don’t do it. You don’t have what it takes to survive the wilderness.”

This is when you reach deep into your wild heart and remind yourself. “I am the wilderness” 🦁

“A SHORT RUN IS BETTER THAN A NO RUN”

“If I have any words of advice for you, it is this, embrace every day, even the rough ones. Each day is your very own page, and you have the power to write the words on those pages. Be courageous, and be strong, but don’t forget it is okay to be weak at times, too.”

“When every heart beat is stronger than the storm, who needs legs to perform”

After leg amputation when I was given a prosthetic leg. It was so heavy, I had to take it off every few hours to begin with because my stump ached. Spent months prior learning to walk with the new prosthetic leg, refused to give up & made it through. Eventually it began to feel like a part of me.

When alone and in my own space, I knew what I wanted – I wanted to run again. You are never too old to start something new. Last year saw this team “I Help Foundation”, organizing events I-Run™ Goa Marathon for a social cause.

I decided to run the marathon! But my ‘everyday’ prosthetic leg was not designed for continual repetitive impact. I knew what was needed to make than happen. When making fundamental decisions in life, its good to talk – taking with the close ones. They can give advice on what they believe.

I got the answer “I believe in you” just you need a lot of practice.

Until you’ve had something taken away, you don’t realize or respect just how much it means. Running is freedom, something we, as humans, were born to do.

On the race day, I felt proud for a minute or two but, really, I could run again. During the run my stump started to pain, but I couldn’t have given up. My mind won over my body & I finished the run, to loud cheers. That’s how I live my life, I just won’t give up. Being stubborn has helped me deal with tough times. I’ll participate in more marathons-I’ve got one life, can’t waste it. I want to keep running; flying even-because this life, this time is all we’ve got & we can’t take it for granted. Leg’s don’t matter what matters is a strong willing heart.

In the meantime, I’ll keep on running – and, when it hurts and I’m low on motivation, I’ll remember how far I’ve come and how much further I got to go.

Signing off…bye 2019

I sell my sunsets, to write a better Sunrise !

“Sometimes it feels like there are so many things in this world we can’t control…. But it’s important to remember the things that we can. Like forgiveness, second chances, fresh starts… Because the one thing that turns the world from the longing place to a beautiful place… is love. Love and any of its forms. Love gives us hope… Hope for the New Year. That’s what New Year’s Eve is to me. Hope and a great party!”

The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot.”……Michael Altshuler

Being Happy

“If you have to try to be cool, you will never be cool. If you have to try to be happy, then you will never be happy. Maybe the problem these days is people are just trying too hard.”

When most people seek happiness, they are actually seeking pleasure: good food, more friend, more time for TV and movies, a new car, parties with friends, full body massages, losing 10 pounds, becoming more popular, and so on. It’s a simple reality: shit happens. Things go wrong. People upset us. Mistakes are made and negative emotions arise. And that’s fine, negative emotions are necessary and healthy for maintaining a stable baseline happiness in one’s life.

Completing a marathon makes us happier than eating a chocolate cake. Raising a child makes us happier than beating a video game. Starting a small business with friends and struggling to make money makes us happier than buying a new mobile.

And this is the reason that trying to be happy inevitably will make you unhappy….
